Container Flower Gardening Ideas: Blue Petunia, Red Verbena, Yellow Bidens

Is there any more beautiful combination than red, yellow and blue? If you are a little leery of multiple colors, then you will probably want to remove one of these (the Yellow Bidens would leave you with a nicely toned-in red and blue).

But for us, an explosion of color really brightens up a darker corner of a small garden.

Starting with one of our all-time favorite flowers, Blue Petunia, which are really reliable, and actually available in a wide range of shades, from two-tone blue and white all the way through to almost midnight blue and deep violet.

They're easy to grow, and really anchor the color in this tricolor display.

Red Verbena is a small, bushy-looking flower, rather like a mini-rhododendron. Its truly beautiful and delicate petals are a nice counterpoint to the Petunias.

Finally, Yellow Bidens (also known as Swamp Marigolds) are delightful yellow trailing flowers. Left unchecked, they grow into long tendrils, trailing their golden treasure all over your balcony or patio. It brings your container display out of the confines of the pot or planter and spreads the colors around.

Love your container ideas but would like to see how many of each plant is being planted and in what size of container - would sure help a lot for a novice gardener. Thanks.
