An early spring combination in muted colors and white doesn't have to be boring.

By adding pussy willow branches to echo the white color of the Stock (Matthiola Spp.), this container gets both height and definition.

A muted shade of osteospermum, lilac with a dark purple eye stands out against the white and burgundy of the stock plants and as contrast, pansies in dark rust.

This container is suitable for early spring, since Stock and pansies love the cooler temperatures and spring showers. However, osteospermum doesn’t like temperatures below freezing, so keep an eye for late spring frosts.

The plants will do well in full sun to partial shade and with an adequate amount of water. They like to be moist, but not wet.

Stock is very easy to grow from seed. You can try winter sowing the seed for truly hardy plants.

It's scented, so you might want to place this container in a spot where you can enjoy it for both its visual appeal and its lovely scent.
