Container Gardening Flowers: Palm = A

A striking cobalt blue glazed container makes a statement on its own and needs very little else to do so.

In this container, all that's needed is a palm plant.

Palms are best suited for warmer zones, only a few can withstand temperatures below freezing.

European Fan Palm and Chinese Fan Palm will survive temperatures around 20F, Bismarkia or Cat Fan Palm can survive temperatures around 32F, but they all might sustain frost damage.

It might be a consideration when placing a container this size outdoors. If you are lucky enough to live in a frost-free area, there are more varieties that are suitable for containers.

They all need good drainage, so make sure you fill your container with a good potting mix. Different palm species have different light and water requirements, so it's best to do a little research on the palm you wish to buy to try to match the plant's needs to the spot you have chosen for your container.
